Lorraine Student Entrepreneurship Centre – PeeL

PeeL is part of the national network of Student Centres for Innovation, Transfer and Entrepreneurship (PEPITE). PEPITE brings together higher education institutions, economic actors and business creation professionals to support students in realising their entrepreneurial projects. The Lorraine Student Entrepreneurship Centre (PeeL) was created in 2011 and since then has supported more than 1000 student-entrepreneurs. It is a department of the University of Lorraine dependent on the Directorate of Entrepreneurship and Socio-Economic Partnerships (DEPAS) which makes it very active in all schools and faculties of its territory. This territorial aspect allows it to be part of an important network of partners and funders. Currently, more than 80 students of the IAE Metz School of Management are preparing their entrepreneurial projects within the PeeL.

The PeeL premises within our school

A space dedicated to student-entrepreneurs is at your disposal in the building of the IAE Metz School of Management.

Student-entrepreneur status

The status of a student-entrepreneur is issued to a person with regard to the reality, the quality of the entrepreneurial project and the qualities of the project leader. It is not based on any degree requirement, except bachelor's degree or equivalent. It is aimed primarily at people under the age of 28, the age limit for receiving student social security coverage.

The advantages of this status:

  • Benefit from a double tutoring: your project will be followed by an entrepreneur or an advisor from a support structure and by a tutor teacher.
  • Have a workspace: you benefit from PeeL's premises to have a dedicated workspace which will allow you to focus 100% on your project.
  • Arrange your training: you can benefit from an adjustment of your schedule and validation of prior learning. The D2E can also be performed during a gap period.
  • Make your project more credible: Official and recognised national status is a way to gain visibility and credibility with banks, suppliers, potential customers, etc.

Directory of student entrepreneurs

We support our students during all phases of the creation of their entrepreneurial project. Every year about 80 projects are underway. You can find all our student-entrepreneurs and their projects on our Student-entrepreneurs Directory.

Entrepreneurship Chair

Created in 2011 on the initiative of the President of the University of Metz and the PRES of the University of Lorraine, the Chair has enabled the development of PeeL (Lorraine Student Entrepreneurship Centre). Based on an international study on the relationship between University and Entrepreneurship in 22 countries, the Chair supported the implementation of an innovative device aimed at the development of entrepreneurial culture within the University of Lorraine.

The Entrepreneurship Chair aims to understand the complexity of entrepreneurship, to give it to understand also and to propose tools to facilitate the action of the actors of entrepreneurship. The Chair highlights the involvement and the quality of the research carried out by the Chairholder and their team in the field of Entrepreneurship at the IAE of Metz and, more generally, at the University of Lorraine.
