Sandwich course makes it possible to train for a profession and to integrate more easily into the life and culture of the company. It is a training system that is based on a practical phase and a theoretical phase that alternate. It is a real bridge to employment and professional integration. The sandwich course programme includes two types of contracts: the apprenticeship contract and the professionalisation contract, both of which meet the same objective of increasing the employee's competence by combining work in a company and theoretical training.

Who are the 3 actors of sandwich course?
The success of the sandwich course project is based on three actors with well-established responsibilities:
The role of the employer is to:
- promote the professional integration of the sandwich course student in the company
- give them the necessary means for practical training
- allow the tutor or the apprenticeship master to provide support to the student, while performing their own work performance (hourly discharge for example).
The role of the sandwich course student is to:
- follow their training with assiduity
- integrate well into the company
- respect the organisation of the company and of the training institution.
The role of the training institution is to:
- ensure the theoretical training of the trainee for the acquisition of the qualification or titled targetted
- ensure and closely monitor the partnership with the company.
What are the advantages of sandwich course training?
Sandwich course training has several advantages for the student, but also for the employer. For the student, this type of training makes it possible to design a professional project thanks to a diploma or qualifying training and a concrete experience in a company. The student obtains a diploma or a qualification from a wide choice of professions; benefits from free training fees; puts theoretical teachings into practice; is paid during his training as an employee; accesses employment more easily thanks to the professional experience acquired in the company. It is important to note that as part of the apprenticeship contract, the adult apprentice can benefit from the help to fund the driving license B.
For the employer, recruiting a sandwich course student has many advantages for a company such as training a future employee, teaching them a profession, integrating them into the life and culture of the company; recruiting a person adapted to the needs of their company. In addition, the employer can use financial benefits such as help to recruit for an apprenticeship contract and help for the professionalisation contract.
What is the difference between the professionalisation contract and the apprenticeship contract?
What age?
- Apprenticeship contract - young people aged 16 to 29 years old
- Professionalisation contract - young people between the ages of 16 and 25 and job seekers aged 26 or older
What remuneration?
Under the apprenticeship contract, the apprentice's remuneration varies according to their age; in addition, their remuneration increases with each new year of performance of their contract. The minimum wage received by the apprentice corresponds to a percentage of the SMIC or the SMC (conventional minimum wage of the job held)
On the other hand, within the framework of the professionalisation contract, the salary of a sandwich course student varies according to the level of their basic training and their age. Conventional or contractual provisions may provide for a more favourable remuneration for the employee.
Other
The apprenticeship contract concerns companies in the craft, commercial, industrial, agricultural sector as well as employers in the associative and liberal professions and employers in the non-industrial and commercial public sector (state, territorial and hospital public functions, as well as public administrative establishments).
The professionalisation contract concerns any employer subject to the financing of executive vocational training. The State, local and regional authorities and their public administrative institutions cannot conclude a professionalisation contract.
The duration of both contracts can vary from a minimum of 6 months to a maximum of 36 months. For more information, you can contact the sandwich course service.
