Introduce yourself ?
Bonjour, my name is Paul. I'm 27 years old, I’m Indonesian. I came here to France in August of 2023. We have the program from Campus France "Études en France". I started with my Master1 Management of Innovation and in the first semester I found out there is a chance for me for the second semester to take an Erasmus program. I got the opportunity to study in Belgium, the city called Antwerp, in a major called International Business, Logistics and International Business. So it was a pleasant experience for me to learn there for about six months. I came back here again to Metz to continue my Master 2, which is Management of Quality. The program is using the Alternance program, which I got the opportunity to work in a company in Paris, in a company called Ceva Logistics. So I live in both places, in Metz and also in Paris.
Why did you choose IAE Metz ?
Why did I choose IAE? There are two major reasons, formal and informal. Formal one, I like the subject itself, Management of Quality, which is correlated with my job before. I managed a lot of procedure standards, so I really like to deep dive more into the formal education approach. And the informal, casual reason I came here, because of the location of the city of Metz itself, which is really close to the border of Luxembourg and also to Germany. Belgium, Netherlands and also in Switzerland. So it's really fun stuff to do.
How did you find the welcome and integration process at IAE Metz ?
My first experience living in France, and especially in Metz, can be a little bit hard because of the language barrier. But so far I'm enjoying the administration from the IAE itself, and how to adapt more with the city. And the city Metz itself is as beautiful as what I searched in Google before when I was in Indonesia. And I explore more about the city and it turns out there is also interesting stuff. Here I found a lot of not only French friends, but also Arabic and also Ukrainian, which became my first close people in my living here. From the perspective of Indonesia, we see that Europe is a very rich country. And then when I came here, all the elevators are old, the buildings are old. But you also see the arts of the building, the architecture, which I enjoy more.
What impact has this experience had on your life ?
Does it have an impact ? Yeah, of course it's a big impact for me from my education perspective, professional perspective, and also my personal culture perspective. Before I could say that I haven't even had Western or Middle Eastern friends to even talk to. Now I get a chance to learn, not even just talk to, but learn their own culture, their own languages. That's the first perspective to open my mind. And then for experience about working itself, now I get the alternance experience, which is very interesting to work in a European culture enterprise. It has so much different working culture than in Asia.
Merci !
